About Me

Philosophy of Care

While surgery involves many levels or care, my philosophy is focusing on “understanding”: understanding the core issues that impact a patient’s health, and helping them to understand their treatment.

In 2003, I finished my training in Baltimore at St. Agnes, a large community hospital and the second oldest surgical residency in the US. A good portion of my training was also at University of Maryland Hospitals, including John Hopkins. My program’s mission was to train broad based general surgeons; a skill set which I believe is now increasing in need.

I am often asked what made me want to become a doctor. Often I answer with a single word, “why.” This one word continues to spark my interest and I believe keeps me energetic. With this always in mind, I strive to educate my patients at all steps of their journey. Together, with shared knowledge and understanding, we can identify and implement the best treatment option together.
