Ruwan Kiringoda, M.D.

Dr. Ruwan Kiringoda believes strongly in a patient-centered approach to care. Recognizing that deciding whether and when to undergo surgery is one of the most important healthcare decisions a patient can make, he strives to provide the information and guidance needed to help patients make the choice that is right for them. In some cases, that may mean choosing a non-surgical treatment approach.

One of his greatest passions is serving as the Medical Director of the PAMF Cochlear Implant Program. He works closely with a highly skilled team of audiologists to provide hearing restoration surgery for patients who were born deaf or who have experienced severe hearing loss. Helping patients regain their ability to hear is one of the most rewarding aspects of his practice, and he remains committed to continuously refining his techniques and advancing patient care.

He is a strong advocate for minimally invasive surgical techniques when appropriate. For example, endoscopic ear surgery can allow many procedures to be performed without the need for large external incisions behind or around the ear.

He also collaborates closely with neurosurgeons, radiologists, and radiation oncologists to provide multidisciplinary care for patients with acoustic neuromas and other benign, slow-growing tumors affecting the hearing and balance nerves. In many cases, these conditions can be effectively managed through observation or stereotactic radiation therapy rather than surgery. He works closely with each patient to develop an individualized treatment plan that best fits their unique circumstances and goals.

Dr. Kiringoda is an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist) who focuses primarily on disorders of the ear and skull base. His areas of expertise include hearing loss and cochlear implants, primary and revision ear surgery for tympanic membrane perforations and cholesteatoma, surfer’s ear (exostosis), otosclerosis, and Meniere’s disease.

He also specializes in disorders of the lateral skull base, including acoustic neuromas (vestibular schwannomas), cerebellopontine angle meningiomas, superior canal dehiscence, and cerebrospinal fluid leaks involving the ear and mastoid.
