Susan E Connolly, M.D.

I believe the human eye and the visual system are among the most beautiful parts of being human. My role as an ophthalmologist is to do all I can to restore or maintain healthy eyes and excellent vision for my patients. Although ophthalmology does not usually involve life and death issues, I strive to improve quality of life for my patients in any way possible.

In addition to her work in the department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Connolly has been an active member of the Physician Wellbeing Committee, through which she helped institute mindfulness based stress reduction, mindful self-compassion, and other programs to minimize physician burnout and maximize physician wellbeing. Dr. Connolly has served as a mentor for new physicians at PAFMG, both within her department and outside her department. She has additional training in Lifestyle Medicine and Culinary Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Connolly enjoys running, hiking, weight-lifting, yoga, meditation, cooking, playing violin, and listening to all kinds of music. She has two adult daughters, one of whom is a physician, and the other a medical illustrator.
