Susan V. Areeckal, M.D.

Dr. Susan Areeckal, MD, is a family medicine physician with a natural and holistic approach to health, while also strongly believing in the importance of preventive care, including vaccinations. Her philosophy centers on caring for the whole family. She finds that understanding the broader family dynamics allows her to better guide each person toward their healthiest, most active potential.

She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the San Joaquin Medical Society.

She is deeply rooted in her community and is a proud swim mom, a regular at local farmers markets, and someone who finds joy in cooking, reading, taking acting classes, and embroidery. She also dreams of one day creating her own garage carpentry space. These interests keep her grounded and mindful of the rhythm and flow of daily life, just as she recommends for her patients as well.

She loves taking care of everyone from babies to end of life. She especially enjoys caring for musculoskeletal conditions and helping to support mental health. She often demonstrates stretches in clinic and offers steroid injections, when appropriate, to provide immediate relief. She does not prescribe controlled pain or anxiety medications outside of short term for fractures, cancer, or end of life care. Working together to find practical ways to support patients in minimizing pain and improving function gets her excited.
