William R. Ryan, M.D.

My goals are to guide patients through their health crisis by providing diagnostic evaluations, state of the art surgical care, and, when necessary, tumor surveillance, with care, confidence, empathy, and up-to-date knowledge as a part of a multidisciplinary team including reconstructive surgeons, advanced practice clinicians, and speech and swallow therapists. Our team strives to be as accessible and as responsive as possible for our patients.

• 15 years at UCSF teaching
• Director for 19 continuing medical education (CME) conferences
• Has served on multiple committees within the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) and American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAOHNS).  Recently elected as the Vice Chair of the Salivary Tumor Section of the AHNS.
• Fellow of the Triological Society

In his free time, Dr. Ryan enjoys surfing, skiing, playing guitar, seeing live music, hiking, traveling and spending time with friends and family, especially his wife, daughter and son.

• Performs an average of 350 operations per year
• Has authored over 110 peer-reviewed scientific publications

• Has given over 200 lectures nationally and internationally
• Has conducted over 90 scientific journal reviews
• Former professor of Head and Neck Oncologic, Thyroid, and Salivary Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California – San Francisco
