Every person has a tough time at one point or another. Having trouble with school doesn’t make you a bad or a dumb person. Getting a low grade or not understanding a subject simply means you need a little extra help to do your best.

The most important thing is to admit you’re having trouble and ask for help.

To get help:

  • Ask your teacher what they suggest to improve your work.
  • Ask the school counselor about tutoring options.
  • Ask your parents for assistance.
  • Talk to your friends, who may have had trouble too.

Also, consider building some time management skills. Completing your work in a timely manner by using a set schedule and taking occasional breaks can be a big help when you’re struggling with academics.

Having trouble isn’t a failure, but if you ignore it, it will get worse. Remember: You’re a capable person and you will be able to manage this.
