Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Care

Experience the benefits of an intensive therapy program while continuing to live at home. Our partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are a great alternative to full hospitalization if you don’t need 24-hour care. They can also be a helpful transition when you’re leaving the hospital but you’re not ready to return to everyday life. 

From Sacramento to the Bay Area, our four PHP and IOP specialty centers offer virtual and in-person care designed to meet a wide range of needs. In Sacramento, Sutter Center for Psychiatry provides adult and adolescent PHP and IOP programs, along with a perinatal virtual IOP. In the Bay Area, Alta Bates Summit and Mills-Peninsula Medical Centers provide adult services and dedicated support for adolescents and young adults. MPI Addiction Care Services focuses on substance use recovery with flexible virtual options. Our virtual services can be accessed from anywhere in California. 

Through our PHP and IOP programs, you’ll receive individualized care in a safe, supportive environment. You’ll work one-on-one with a psychiatrist, participate in group therapy and develop practical tools to manage symptoms and stressors. Our programs are designed to support your recovery, build confidence and help you regain independence.
