Finding a Pediatrician Who’s Like Family
She's 11 years old, and our son Zane is three and a half.
You know, being a full time parent with, like, a full time job
It's like crazy, crazy, as you can imagine, because my son
has to be in school by 8:30, and my daughter needs to be on her bus at 8:10.
And our meetings generally start at nine.
Yeah, the window in the morning is quite crazy.
He takes care of lunch and breakfast, and I take care of
getting them ready. It's hectic,
but we try to kind of make the most of it as a family.
We moved to the States when our daughter was six weeks old.
For parents like us, first generation who don't have family here,
We were looking for a pediatrician
who could be an extension of the support system that we were missing here.
The moment we met Dr. Singh,
we felt that this is it.
It was just like that whole connection.
Somebody we can completely rely on that his advice is going to be sound.
He's going to be actually listening to a lot of our fears without judgment.
He's very, very responsive.
His communication channels are always open.
We were able to schedule remote visits with him.
The ecosystem takes care of you without you having to spend a lot of time
and effort and trying to follow up with doctors.
Allergy testing, nursemaid's elbow,
dentist recommendations, ophthalmologist recommendations
have all come from Dr. Singh.
With my daughter growing older,
on her 10th checkup, she felt really heard and seen.
For her to have more people in her support system,
it was just like the support system that I wanted to build 11 years ago.
We have that support system with Dr. Singh.
He's more of a friend and a counsel than a pediatrician.
And given how busy we are, it's useful to have someone who has your back
I'm the winner!
The Chawla family moved to the U.S. when their daughter Tanya was just 6 weeks old. With the support system of their extended family left behind in India, and both parents juggling demanding careers, what they needed from a pediatrician in their new community was a tall order.
Harleen and Jagjit Chawla wanted a doctor who could be an extension of the family. One who was dedicated to partnership, someone they could lean on, who would listen without judgement and who would be responsive and communicative. They found all that and more in Sutter pediatrician Navneet Singh, M.D.
Now Tanya is 11 and they have a 3 ½-year-old son, Zane. Over the years, Dr. Singh has partnered closely with the family, interacting through messaging, video, phone calls, and of course, the routine well checks for both children. He also connected the family to pediatric specialists for various health issues over the years.
“The moment we met Dr. Singh we felt, this is it. It was that whole connection. Somebody we could completely rely on, whose advice is going to be sound,” Harleen says.
Get to know the Chawla family and how they found a pediatrician they could trust who offers the support they need.
