Dron Gauchan
Investigator
Dr. Gauchan serves as the Associate Program Director and Chair of the Oncology Department. He is a board-certified Hematologist and Medical Oncologist with clinical expertise in lung cancer, glioblastoma, and genitourinary and gastrointestinal malignancies. He is also the Medical Director of Oncology Clinical Informatics.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Gauchan holds several key leadership roles within Sutter Medical Group and Sutter Health. He serves as a member of the Executive Council for the Sutter Health Cancer Service Line and as Director of Pharmacy and Infusion Services. Despite his extensive administrative duties, he remains deeply dedicated to education and mentorship, bringing a wealth of experience in training both medical students and residents. His comprehensive knowledge and commitment to teaching will be an invaluable asset to our Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Gauchan completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Joseph’s University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, where he also served as Chief Fellow. He is actively involved in research and serves as Principal Investigator for multiple cutting-edge clinical trials at the Sutter Roseville Cancer Center. His scholarly contributions include numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
As part of his commitment to ongoing education, Dr. Gauchan co-chairs the annual Sutter Health Hematology and Medical Oncology Conference in Sacramento, as well as the San Francisco Lung Cancer Conference in collaboration with faculty from Stanford and UCSF. Fellows in our program will benefit from meaningful participation in these highly regarded conferences.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Gauchan enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and discovering new cultures. His passion for engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and exploring global cuisines reflects the inclusive and open-minded approach he brings to both his personal and professional life.
