Edmund W. Tai

Edmund Tai, MD, FACP, is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with nearly four decades of experience in clinical care, research, and physician leadership. He has practiced at the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group since 1987, where he has held numerous leadership roles, including Medical Director of the Cancer Care Program, Chair of the Hematology/Oncology Department, and currently serves as Director of Oncology Clinical Research.
Dr. Tai has played a key role in advancing multidisciplinary cancer care and clinical trials, with research interests in breast and lung cancers, cancer genetics, hematologic malignancies, and supportive oncology. An ASCO International Mentor, he has taught and lectured extensively in the United States and China and holds adjunct and guest professorships at leading academic institutions.
He earned his A.B. in Biophysics from UC Berkeley and his M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completing residency and fellowships at Harbor‑UCLA. Dr. Tai was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2016.
