Gayle Sutcliffe, M.D.

Gayle Sutcliffe, MD, is a board-certified family physician and clinical informatics leader at Sutter Health. She currently serves as Medical Director of Clinical Informatics for Primary Care, where she supports enterprise-wide strategic initiatives through the effective use of digital health technologies. In this role, Dr. Sutcliffe collaborates with clinical leaders to optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems, enhance physician workflows, and improve usability, adoption, and training across ambulatory care settings.
Dr. Sutcliffe has been a practicing family physician since 1999, providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages, with experience that includes newborn care and low-risk obstetrics. She also serves as an EHR Physician Champion for Sutter Medical Group, leading physician education and optimization efforts related to health information systems.
Her leadership experience includes roles as a Physician Informatics Lead and Subject Matter Expert, where she contributed to the design, build, and governance of clinical applications used across Sutter Health. She has also served as a supervising physician for walk-in care centers and previously provided medical support for a Major League Baseball team.
Dr. Sutcliffe earned her MD from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine and completed her family practice residency through the Sutter Health Davis program. She holds board certifications in Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics and maintains active licensure in California.
In addition to her clinical and informatics work, Dr. Sutcliffe is actively involved in teaching medical students, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research, reflecting her commitment to advancing patient care and healthcare innovation.
