Kevin B. Knopf, MD, MPH, is a nationally recognized medical oncologist and health services researcher with a focus on improving quality, value, and equity in cancer care. He currently serves as a hematologist-oncologist at Alta Bates Comprehensive Cancer Center in Berkeley, CA. He formerly served as Division Chief of Hematology/Oncology and Director of Clinical Research at Alameda Health System, where he has led the development of breast and lung cancer programs and expanded clinical trial access.

Dr. Knopf received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his MD from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed residency training in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and internal medicine at Northwestern University, followed by a medical oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute. He also earned a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Knopf has held academic appointments at leading institutions including UCSF, Dartmouth, and the University of South Carolina, and has served in leadership roles across major healthcare systems, including directing cancer genetics and graduate medical education programs.

His research spans pharmacoeconomics, outcomes research, and decision analysis, with extensive use of large datasets to evaluate cost-effectiveness and patterns of care in oncology. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and contributes to numerous journals as an editor, reviewer, and thought leader.
