Michael Yu Zhang, MD, PhD is a board-certified radiation oncologist with Northern California Radiation Therapists and Oncologists Medical Group. He provides comprehensive cancer care at Sutter Solano Cancer Center, California Pacific Medical Center, and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Dr. Zhang earned his MD and PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington and completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Dr. Zhang specializes in advanced radiation therapies, including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), and brachytherapy. He is actively involved in multidisciplinary cancer care and serves as Co-Chair of the Cancer Committee, Breast Program Leadership Committee, and Multi-Disciplinary Tumor Board at Sutter Solano.
A physician-scientist, Dr. Zhang has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in oncology, hematology, and cancer genomics. His contributions to patient care and leadership have been recognized with the 2026 Hummingbird Award and the 2023 Sutter Spirit Award. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and proficient in Spanish.
