Neftali Nevarez

Dr. Neftali Nevarez, M.D. is a board-certified rheumatologist at Sutter East Bay Medical Group in Berkeley, California, where he has been practicing since 2017. He completed his Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of South Florida, following residencies in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara and Family Medicine at Natividad Medical Center. Dr. Nevarez earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Brown University.
With a strong background in clinical research, Dr. Nevarez has contributed to studies on HPV viral loads in autoimmune patients, chemotherapy responses in elderly breast cancer patients, and the relationship between depression and type II diabetes. He has also led quality improvement initiatives focused on vaccination rates in immunosuppressed patients and ICU care optimization.
Dr. Nevarez is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology and serves on both the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at Sutter East Bay Medical Group. He is fluent in English and Spanish, with conversational proficiency in French. His academic contributions include multiple grand rounds and poster presentations on topics such as Takayasu Arteritis, autoinflammatory syndromes, and systemic lupus erythematosus.
