Dr. Barazangi's research interests include neuroimaging, neurovascular disorders, and neuromonitoring.

As Director of the Stroke/Neurocritical Care Research and Education Program at CPMC, she has increased the center's participation in stroke clinical trials, spearheaded participation in the Neurologic Emergencies Treatment Trials program, and leveraged the resources of CCSCC's 25 hospital telestroke network.

Dr. Barazangi developed and manages the investigator-initiated PERFUSE (PERFusion Use in Stroke Evaluation) study, focusing on computed tomography techniques such as perfusion imaging, which may improve the selection of patients for acute stroke therapies.

She also oversees stroke research training for students, residents and fellows at CPMC.
