Parul S. Patel, M.D. is a board-certified nephrologist and transplant specialist with extensive expertise in kidney and pancreas transplantation. He currently serves as a transplant nephrologist at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where he is also Medical Director of Pancreas Transplantation and Director of Transplant Education.

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree with Honors in Basic Sciences from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies magna cum laude at the University of Houston Honors College. He went on to complete residency training in internal medicine at Baylor, followed by fellowships in nephrology and transplant medicine, including advanced training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Patel held academic appointments at Boston University School of Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine, and served in leadership positions at Boston Medical Center, where he was Medical Director of Inpatient Dialysis and Clinical Director of Outpatient Renal Clinics.

Dr. Patel investigates the immune response after kidney transplantation; continuous renal replacement therapies; and new strategies to promote graft success and limit acute organ rejection after kidney transplant. He has contributed to clinical research trials, peer-reviewed publications, and medical education, and remains actively involved in professional committees and transplant quality initiatives.
