Dr. Raphael B. Merriman is a leading hepatologist specializing in liver transplantation and metabolic liver disease. He currently serves as Medical Director of Liver Transplantation and Director of Metabolic Liver Disease Research and Alcohol-associated Liver Disease at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine (Volunteer) at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Merriman completed his medical training at University College Dublin and advanced fellowship training in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at Washington University in St. Louis and UCSF. Board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology, he is widely recognized for his contributions to clinical care, research, and medical education.
His research focuses on nonalcoholic and alcohol-related liver disease, with extensive peer-reviewed publications and leadership roles in national and international professional societies.
