Xiaoran (Zel) Zhang, MD is a neurosurgeon with specialized training in neurosurgical oncology, including cranial and skull base tumors. Dr. Zhang completed a neurosurgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center following residency in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he also served as an enfolded fellow and postdoctoral scholar. His research focuses on tumor immunology, including mechanisms of immune escape in gliomas and the role of immunotherapy in brain tumors. Dr. Zhang has contributed extensively to the scientific literature, with numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and presentations at national conferences. His work has been supported by competitive funding, including the Burrough Wellcome Fund Physician Scientist Incubator Program. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer.
