Dr. Zeyad Kanaan, M.D., C.M.Q. Medical Director of Oncology, Sutter Health – Santa Rosa
Dr. Zeyad Kanaan is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist with over a decade of experience in clinical care, research, and academic leadership. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Oncology at Sutter Health in Santa Rosa, California, where he also leads the Infusion Center and serves as Site Lead for Medical Oncology at Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods. Additionally, he is the Director of Research at the Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation.
Dr. Kanaan earned his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology, followed by postgraduate training in internal medicine and oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Health System and the University of Louisville School of Medicine. His academic appointments have included Assistant Professor roles at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas and Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident.
He has held numerous leadership roles in oncology quality improvement, clinical trials, and medical education, including chairing tumor boards and oncology committees. His research contributions span basic science and clinical trials, particularly in genitourinary and hematologic malignancies. Dr. Kanaan has authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and has presented at national and international conferences.
He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology and Hematology, and holds additional certifications in medical quality and physician leadership. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and the Society of Hematologic Oncology.
Dr. Kanaan is recognized for his excellence in teaching and commitment to advancing cancer care through research, innovation, and community engagement.
