Zijian Xu

Dr. Zi-Jian Xu, MD, PhD, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist and nationally recognized expert in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. He currently serves as Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and Medical Director of Advanced Heart Failure and Non-Invasive Cardiac Diagnostics at Sutter
Medical Center in Sacramento, California. Dr. Xu is also Chief of the Cardiology Division at Sutter Medical Group and a Clinical Professor at California Northstate University.
With over three decades of clinical, academic, and research experience, Dr. Xu has led or participated in numerous landmark clinical trials in heart failure and cardiovascular therapeutics. Trained in internal medicine and cardiology at UCLA, and in cellular and molecular physiology at Stanford University, he integrates cutting edge science with compassionate patient care.
Dr. Xu is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a past president of both the Chinese American Heart Association and the Chinese American Medical Association of California. He has received multiple teaching awards and was named among Sacramento’s Best Doctors by Sacramento Magazine for several consecutive years.
