Gastroenterologists and cancer specialists at Sutter Cancer Centers use the latest and most reliable technology available to diagnose and treat colorectal cancer, including endorectal ultrasound, endocavity radiation therapy and radioembolization.
The most common screening tests for colorectal cancer include digital rectal examinations, fecal occult blood testing, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and double contrast barium enemas. Recently, research has shown that a new technique called virtual colonoscopy appears to be as effective as a traditional colonoscopy in detecting colon cancer. Virtual colonoscopies are available through Sutter Cancer Centers and offer a minimally invasive approach using CT scanning and a high-powered computer to create two- and three-dimensional images of the interior of the colon.
Once colorectal cancer is confirmed, comprehensive treatment is available through Sutter Cancer Centers. We offer the full range of services, including consultative tumor board conferences, where our specialists review individual cases and combine their knowledge to create a personalized treatment plan that’s right for you.
