Sutter Children's Center, Sacramento, is a comprehensive pediatric care center with national recognition as a specialty children's hospital. We are part of Sutter Medical Center and serve children with acute and specialty care needs. We are the regional referral center for neonatal and pediatric care for more than 27 counties and 50 hospitals throughout Northern California, Southern Oregon and Northern Nevada. We are also the only medical center in the greater Sacramento area that offers board-certified pediatric intensivists and neonatologists on-site 24 hours a day, and pediatric anesthesiologists on call 24 hours a day.
At Sutter Children's Center we embrace a philosophy of family-centered care, enabling your designated family members to determine how you want to be involved in care and decision-making. We know that when you, your child, family members and healthcare providers work in partnership, we improve both your child's experience and health outcomes.
In Our Caring Hands
When your child has a health issue or disorder that your pediatrician needs support diagnosing or treating, our pediatric specialists are here, with the advanced training and expertise to treat the full range of childhood illnesses and conditions. We collaborate with your child's doctor to provide the most advanced and appropriate care, always with warmth and compassion.
Many pediatric health issues require ongoing care without hospitalization. Sutter Children's Outpatient Services offers a variety of pediatric interdisciplinary team services. See Pediatric Specialty Care for a full list.
Emergency Services
If your child has a serious accident or illness that requires emergency care, you'll be in good hands with our emergency medicine doctors, who are specially trained to work with children. Our Pediatric Emergency Department offers specialty emergency care for critical illness, infectious diseases, concussion treatment, microsurgery and breaks in growing bones.
Our specialized transport services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to calls for transfers or for emergency consultation.
Intensive Care Services
For children who are critically ill, our pediatric intensive care team offers the highest level of critical care for infants, children and teens in our 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Seven pediatric intensivists and more than 75 pediatric subspecialists serve more than 1,300 patients a year and offer consultations to physicians across Northern California. Each specially trained PICU nurse is devoted to providing attentive care to children in this stressful situation. Families are welcome in the PICU and encouraged to remain with their children as much as possible.
