Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our cardiac rehabilitation experts are ready to help you improve your heart health, recover from a heart attack or surgery, and reduce your risk for future heart problems.

Why Choose Sutter?

Cardiac rehabilitation focuses on exercise and education to help people manage heart-related conditions, reduces the risk for cardiovascular disease and improves overall physical fitness and health.

Our leading cardiac rehabilitation program helps you strengthen your heart after surgery, transplant, angioplasty, and stent and valve repairs. The program has four phases. How long you participate in any one phase depends on your health and how your heart responds. The phases are:

  • Phase 1 is an inpatient program that aims to increase your strength. If you’ve had a heart transplant, we’ll help prevent transplant rejection following hospitalization.
  • Phase 2 helps you transition from the hospital to home, focusing on an exercise program to increase your strength and activity.
  • Phase 3 focuses on strengthening, stretching and aerobics while we monitor and track vital signs.
  • Phase 4 is a minimally supervised, unmonitored maintenance phase that helps you make lifestyle changes and lower your risk of future heart problems.

Our cardiac rehab programs are certified by the American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). We were the first program in the nation to be certified by the Joint Commission for our safe, successful transitions of care for heart failure patients.
