There may come a time when efforts to cure your illness aren’t working or when the treatment burdens outweigh the benefits. If you or a loved one is in the last stages of a serious illness, Sutter Care at Home’s hospice program can help ease pain and suffering and maximize your quality of life.
Hospice provides physical, spiritual and emotional support, enabling you to live out your life with dignity and comfort, surrounded by the people and things you love. With hospice care, we emphasize supportive or palliative care, not curing. We focus on pain management and symptom control through medications, as well as comforting services such as massage therapy.
Your dedicated hospice team includes spiritual support, nurses and home aides, medical social workers, bereavement experts and trained volunteers.
You can reach hospice professionals 24 hours a day for phone consultations and after-hours emergency visits to respond to concerns and questions. In addition, we provide community education on end-of-life issues and community grief support.
Hospice is a philosophy of care provided where ever the patient calls home. Typically, that is your home, but we also provide services in nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and hospice residential units. We also offer grief and bereavement support for loved ones, often for up to one year.
