School of Diagnostic Imaging
The Mills-Peninsula School of Diagnostic Imaging is a recognized leader in preparing highly competent imaging practitioners. Since 1963, the school has had more than 200 graduates who were eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Radiologic Technology Program
Mills-Peninsula’s Radiography Program is a 24-month continuous program that provides didactic and clinical education in Radiography. Clinical rotations take place at the Medical Center in Burlingame, an acute inpatient facility, and at the Health Center in San Mateo, an outpatient facility that provides a wide range of services including surgery, rehabilitation and diagnostics.
The Mills-Peninsula School of Diagnostic Imaging has been awarded an eight year accreditation by The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology from January 2018 until January 1, 2026. The next review by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology is planned for January 2026 unless the JRCERT deems a sooner review is required. Additionally, the Program is approved by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch as a school for radiographers.
Classes begin each July. Applications (PDF) are accepted from January 1 to April 1. Upon completion of this program, graduates are eligible to take the State and National certification examination.

The 24-month, tuition-free radiography program in Burlingame is JRCERT-accredited and prepares students for careers in radiology.

The mission of the Mills-Peninsula School of Diagnostic Imaging is to educate competent imaging practitioners who demonstrate high ethical standards and deliver excellent, compassionate care to the community.
Clinically Competency
This goal is attained through comprehensive clinical and didactic curricula that prepare the student to successfully perform all diagnostic, fluoroscopic and mobile/surgical procedures.
Student learning outcomes:
- Students will master entry-level skills in positioning.
- Students employ safe radiation practices on patients, self and others.
- Students select appropriate technical factors for radiographic exams

MRI Certificate Program (Sutter Employees Only)

The program requires:
- ARRT certification in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, or Sonography (RDMS)
- An Associate's degree
- A supervisor's letter for clinical training
- Availability for live online lectures (Mon/Wed, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm)
- The program lasts for 6 months.
- The program covers MRI Physics, Protocols, Pathology, Anatomy, Patient Care, Ethics, MRI Safety, and Registry Review. ASRT and ARRT CE credits are available.
