Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center
The world-renowned Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center in San Francisco provides comprehensive muscular dystrophy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnostic and treatment services. Our multidisciplinary team provides the care necessary to allow you to live your life with dignity and supports you and your family throughout your illness. Our experienced, knowledgeable staff is committed to providing outstanding care to effectively manage all aspects of your condition.
We're also one of the largest ALS clinical research centers in the United States. In the last five years, we've conducted 22 interventional clinical trials in neuromuscular diseases. Currently, we provide care to over 200 ALS patients and many patients with myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy, muscle disorders and more.
The Forbes Center has pioneered ALS Care by taking a multidisciplinary approach to ALS care, which allows patients to see multiple providers in one visit. These include a neurologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, nurse, dietitian, speech language pathologist, social worker, mental health professional and an ALS Association liaison all at a single appointment.
By providing specialized multidisciplinary ALS care, the Forbes Norris Clinic is able to extend survival and improve patients’ quality of life. Our patients participate in cutting-edge clinical trials seeking new ways to slow the progression of neuromuscular disease. Additionally, we’re working on bringing the latest molecular biological findings about motor nerve cells directly from the laboratory bench to the bedside.
