Board-certified pediatric neurosurgery subspecialists at Sutter Children's Center, Sacramento and the Sutter Neuroscience Institute provide surgical treatment of tumors, epilepsy, hydrocephalus, vascular malformations, craniofacial disorders, spina bifida, cysts and spinal anomalies. Board-certified pediatric neurosurgery specialists are supported by a team of specially trained nurses and technicians, social workers and Child Life Specialists who provide complete care and support for the entire family. The Brain Tumor Team provides a specific continuum of care for pediatric brain tumor patients.
Our pediatric neurosurgery department is affiliated with the Shriner’s Hospital of Northern California and regularly receives referrals from the National Brain Tumor Foundation, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Hydrocephalus Association, National Neurofibromatosis Foundation, Trigeminal Neuralgia Association and National Tuberous Sclerosis Association. Sutter Children’s Center, Sacramento has expanded the number of dedicated beds for 24-hour electroencephalogram (EEG), video and audio monitoring and now offers the largest number pediatric epilepsy monitoring beds in California. This allows us to provide faster diagnoses and long-term monitoring for those who need further testing to more clearly define where seizures originate.

Pediatric Rehabilitation
Sutter Children’s Center offers pediatric rehabilitation services for children with neurologic disorders, which may result from cerebral palsy, spina bifida, seizures, cerebrovascular accidents and traumatic brain injuries. Trained pediatric physical and occupational therapists, audiologists and speech-language pathologists provide care and family education services.
