California Pacific Regional Rehabilitation Center

If you or a loved one is recovering from a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, congenital deformity, complex fracture, joint replacement or other serious illness or traumatic injury, the California Pacific Regional Rehabilitation Center provides a world-class facility with top-rated acute and outpatient rehabilitation doctors and services. Serving the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 30 years, we offer an ideal environment where you receive individualized nursing and therapy care in a warm, healing atmosphere designed to help you regain your independence.

Our Inpatient Acute Specialty Program includes nursing care and participation in an intensive, coordinated specialty therapy program under the medical direction of a board certified physiatrist. Our Post-acute Rehabilitation Program is designed for individuals who have completed acute hospitalization but continue to need rehabilitation or nursing and medical services. We also support individuals living in the community who require ongoing specialty rehabilitation therapy through our Outpatient Specialty Rehabilitation Program.

Our interdisciplinary team includes healthcare professionals who are specifically trained to provide physical medicine and rehabilitation care, focusing on both your physical and psychological well-being. Highly experienced occupational therapists, physiatrists, speech therapists, physical therapists, recreational therapists and other skilled specialists work with you and your family, using the latest treatment practices and therapy equipment. Within this environment, we believe we achieve the highest quality rehabilitation outcomes.

Our goal is to optimize your ability to care for yourself through one-on-one therapy, group treatment and recreational therapy. We focus on everyday activities, including bathing, dressing, eating and transferring from one place to another such as from your bed to a wheelchair. If you can put weight on your feet, we also focus on walking and utilize our Archibald and Ehrenberg Rehabilitation Terrain Park to practice on different types of terrain. We may also use our aquatic therapy pools to help you improve mobility and maintain muscle strength.

The Highest Standard of Care

California Pacific Regional Rehabilitation Center is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for adhering to the highest industry standards of excellence. As a CARF-accredited program, we follow nationally and internationally accepted standards and practices, striving to continually improve patient care quality.

Three-year accreditation is the highest possible accreditation achievement. Our rehabilitation center has earned a three-year CARF accreditation for the following programs:

  • Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation
  • Adult Inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation
  • Adult Inpatient Spinal Cord System-of-Care Rehabilitation
  • Adult Inpatient Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation
  • Rehabilitation Case Management
  • Adult Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation
  • Adult Outpatient Spinal Cord System-of-Care
  • Adolescent Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation
  • Adolescent Inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation

While most of our patients are adults, we treat adolescents as young as 15 years of age. Our private rooms allow parents to remain with their child, and therapies include age-appropriate activities to address the teenagers’ unique needs and interests.

About the California Pacific Regional Rehabilitation Center

The Acute Rehabilitation Center is housed on two floors of the Davies Campus North Tower in San Francisco. One floor is exclusively for brain injury and stroke rehabilitation and the other for spine injuries and general rehabilitation. Each floor can accommodate up to 24 patients. With the exception of three specialty-care rooms on each floor, all rooms are private.

Each floor has a glassed-in central staffing center with electronic communication boards for instantaneous patient updates, computer data stations for electronic medical record charting, and a reception area for staff and residents. Additionally the floors offer resource centers for education and support that convert into community rooms for entertainment or physical therapy gyms. Full-service, adjustable-height kitchens enable patients to build skills before returning home.  Additionally, prior to discharge, patients and a family member have access to our transitional-living apartment.

As you consider your rehabilitation care, it’s helpful to understand the differences in receiving care from an inpatient rehabilitation facility versus a skilled nursing facility. At our center, more than 800 specialists on medical staff at California Pacific Medical Center support our rehabilitation continuum of care.
