Role Description
The Sutter Coast Hospital Auxiliary is an integral part of the hospital, providing supports services, public relations and fundraising, as well as promoting interest in health services. As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to assist patients and visitors with directions and information or support a department. All volunteers help out under staff supervision and direction.
Here are some of the areas where our volunteers currently assist:
- Ambulatory surgery
- Emergency department
- Front desk/reception
- Gift shop
- Pre-admissions
We also receive requests for temporary assignments or one-time projects from many areas in the hospital.
We welcome your interest in becoming a volunteer. You may obtain an application from the Sutter Coast Hospital Administration Monday — Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Requirements and Qualifications
Auxiliary requirements for volunteering:
- Completion of an application form
- Background clearance
- Interview with Auxiliary membership chairperson, the director of admitting and one other Auxiliary member
- Medical clearance, including a tuberculosis test before beginning volunteer assignment
- Attendance at one orientation meeting
- Membership dues
- Uniforms
- Attendance at Auxiliary meetings
Hospital requirements for volunteering:
- Orientation
- Annual tuberculosis screening
- Annual safety and infection control testing
