Volunteer Doula at Sutter Davis

The Sutter Davis Doula Program is coordinated by Birthing Center registered nurses with many years of experience supporting birthing families. We are excited to welcome volunteers with a passion for birth equity, birth outcomes and supporting families to our labor support team. Doula orientations are held twice a year, in the spring and fall. Acceptance to the program is through an application and interview process.

Our doula program is a highly sought after opportunity with rigorous requirements. Prior training or experience is not required as our doulas are trained in house and supported by our birthing center team of doulas, nurses, midwives and physicians. However our program seeks volunteers dedicated to caring for our community through physical, emotional and educational support of birthing families during this transformative and vulnerable life event. Those who apply and are accepted to the program agree to a minimum two-year commitment and will be expected to fulfill a minimum of 12 hours on-call a month. Volunteer doulas must also attend quarterly meetings, continuing education and periodic outreach events designed to educate the community about doulas and the hospital’s volunteer program.
