The SRMC Emergency Medicine Residency Program accepts applicants through ResidencyCAS. The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).  It is with recognition that the pandemic has interrupted the usual process of obtaining more than one SLOE (Standard Letter of Evaluation). Qualified candidates meet the following criteria:

  • Completed ResidencyCAS Application
  • Three (3) Letters of recommendation
  • At least one SLOE from an Emergency Medicine rotation
  • Two (2) other letters of recommendation. While EM SLOEs are the preferred letter type, the remaining two letters may consist of additional EM SLOEs or off-service SLOEs (oSLOEs), depending on the number of EM Sub-I rotations an applicant is able to complete. We recognize that opportunities to obtain multiple formal EM SLOEs may vary among applicants.
  • USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1 - Pass
  • Military applicants–will accept 3 letters of recommendations (they do not have to be in SLOE form) from applicants who have served in the military. We recognize that these physicians may not be able to provide an up-to-date SLOE from an EM department.
  • Dean’s letter
  • Medical school transcript
  • Personal statement

The program will begin reviewing files through ResidencyCAS as soon as the files are opened for review. Invitations will be sent out as soon as possible after that.
