About the Residency Program

Located in Northern California, Sutter Roseville Medical Center is a community hospital focused on the future and patient-centered care. The Sutter Roseville Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to promoting a learning environment that prepares future physicians to provide high quality medical care.

Repeatedly recognized as one of the top hospitals in California, Sutter Roseville’s 382-bed medical center serves 10 counties in the greater Sacramento area and offers a full range of healthcare services. It’s home to a Level II trauma center, a Level III NICU, the Sutter Rehabilitation Institute and a Joint Commission-recognized Primary Stroke Center. In 2020, a carefully designed, patient-focused 98,000 square-foot expansion opened to meet the growing needs of Roseville and nearby communities.

The Sutter Health System

Sutter Roseville Medical Center is part of the award-winning Sutter Health integrated system of care. Nearly three million patients benefit from connected care at facilities across the Bay Area, Sacramento Valley and the Central Coast. Sutter’s decades-long investment in graduate-level medical education and established institutional accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) provide a solid foundation for new residency programs at Sutter Roseville. Existing residency programs within the health system include family medicine in Sacramento, Davis, Amador and Santa Rosa, as well as internal medicine, ophthalmology and psychiatry at CPMC.

The leadership, providers and staff at the Sutter Health are committed to fostering a positive, supportive environment for training tomorrow’s successful physicians. Sutter Roseville Medical Center and Sutter Health advance and encourage a culturally diverse and inclusive environment with a focus on recruitment, selection and retention of a diverse cohort, who are all empowered to reach their full potential.

Internal Medicine Residency Program

The Sutter Roseville Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency program aims to instill certain values – providing quality care, a desire for life-long learning and the drive for self-improvement – that will serve residents throughout both residency and their future practice.  Residents will train under board-certified and licensed physicians who will serve as dedicated educators, mentors and role models. We pride ourselves on providing opportunities for residents to explore their specific interests within internal medicine, in addition to the fundamentals. At Sutter Roseville Medical Center, residents are at the forefront of all training programs.

The program prepares residents with a strong foundation in internal medicine and its subspecialties to address the varied conditions encountered in clinical practice. Using a patient-centered and team-based approach, residents will prepare to tackle medical and scientific challenges as members and leaders of healthcare teams. After successfully completing the training program, residents will be ready to be agents of change as physicians, scientists and healthcare leaders.
