About the Residency Program

Located in Northern California, Sutter Roseville Medical Center is a tertiary care  hospital focused on the future and patient-centered care. The Sutter Roseville Medical Center Residency Program is dedicated to promoting a learning environment that prepares future physicians to provide high-quality medical care.

Repeatedly recognized as one of the top hospitals in California, Sutter Roseville’s 418-bed medical center serves 10 counties in the greater Sacramento area and offers a full range of healthcare services. It’s home to a Level II trauma center, a Level III NICU, the Sutter Rehabilitation Institute and a Joint Commission-recognized Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center. In 2020, a carefully designed, patient-focused 98,000 square-foot expansion opened to meet the growing needs of Roseville and nearby communities.

Surgery Residency Program

Residents in the program will have access to the tools they need in a learning environment that prepares future physicians to provide safe, high quality surgical care. The residents joining now, as we begin the program, will also have the unique opportunity to help shape what is expected to be a premier residency led by renowned trauma surgeon Jon Perlstein, M.D, FACS. The program’s primary site is Sutter Roseville Medical Center. The medical center houses 14 main operating rooms as well as two surgery centers with five ORs in each. Surgery residents will also rotate to nearby Sutter Medical Center Sacramento and UC Davis Medical Center. At each location, residents will train under board-certified and licensed physicians.
