Education Overview
Memorial Medical Center’s PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program offers residents the opportunity to enhance and solidify their clinical skills by providing patient care services across the continuum of care. Residents will complete seven core rotations, four longitudinal rotations, and three elective rotations. Core rotations are designed to build strong clinical, operational, and management skills, while elective rotations allow residents to pursue their areas of interest. Additionally, residents will engage in teaching pharmacy students throughout the year.
Core Rotations:
- Internal Medicine I (4 weeks)
- Internal Medicine II (4 weeks)
- Medication Safety (4 weeks)
- Adult Intensive Care Unit (6 weeks)
- Inpatient Pharmacy Operations (4 weeks)
- Clinical Pharmacy Staffing (2 weeks)
- Transitions of Care (4 weeks)
Longitudinal Rotations:
- Inpatient Pharmacy Staffing: 2 days every 3 weeks for approximately 32 weeks
- Pharmacy Research: 3 weeks, in addition to 1 hour a week throughout the year
- Pharmacy Administration: 1 hour per week over approximately 50 weeks
- Emergency Medical Response: 2 hours per month throughout the year
