The Sutter Health PGY-1/PGY-2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency is a 24-month training program with the first year at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento and the second year primarily at the Sutter Health System Office.

During the 1st year, the resident will develop skills in providing pharmaceutical care as a clinical pharmacist in a variety of practice settings.  The 2nd year builds upon foundational competencies in delivery of patient-centered care, and pharmacy operations to prepare the resident for future supervisory, managerial, and leadership responsibilities.

Upon graduation, the resident will have the necessary skills to work in leadership roles in a variety of clinical or operational settings, including acute care hospitals, ambulatory care environments, health plans, and health systems.

Resident’s activities are varied in scope, depending on the resident’s background and areas of interest.

The PGY-1/PGY-2 HSPAL Residency Program at Sutter Health is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
