Naveen S. Mahmood, M.D., MPH, FAAP

Dr. Naveen Mahmood has lived in the Bay Area since her early teens. She attended Mercy High School in Burlingame and graduated from Stanford University with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences, earning honors and distinction. She received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and her Master of Science in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her residency in pediatrics at UCSF.

It is incredibly satisfying for her to work in the community where she grew up, raised her own family, and is now helping to raise her grandchildren. She feels very fortunate to travel internationally each year to provide volunteer medical care in underprivileged regions of the world. While these practice settings differ greatly, she finds the same deep satisfaction in caring for patients—especially children—supporting families in decision-making, and respecting their choices.

Having been a parent before becoming a pediatrician reminds her that parents know their children best, and that their voices are essential. She views her role as a partnership with both parents and patients as they navigate some of the most important and formative years of life.

Dr. Mahmood enjoys traveling, physical fitness, and spending quality time with 4 generations of family members, including her 2 grandchildren.
