Onouwem U. Nseyo, M.D.

Onouwem Nseyo, MD FACOG is a board-certified OB/GYN and former Medical Director of Women’s Health for Sutter East Bay Medical Group, where she led strategic initiatives to expand access and equity in care. Based in Berkeley, Oakland and Richmond, she serves a diverse and rapidly growing patient population with compassion and precision.

Dr. Nseyo was drawn to medicine by a deep commitment to eradicating health disparities—a passion that shaped her early academic career, during which she conducted and published research focused on health equity. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and completed her medical training and residency at UCSF.

Her clinical work is grounded in advocacy—championing maternal health and equity across every stage of a woman’s life from first period to the last. She is especially passionate about matrescence, the often-overlooked transition into motherhood, and works to elevate it as a critical part of women’s health conversations.

Dr. Onouwem U. Nseyo believes that movement is medicine and enjoys staying active. Whether going on runs, joining a favorite instructor on Peloton, or hiking with her husband, staying active helps her feel whole and at peace.

She also enjoys spending time with her large (and loud) Nigerian family.

In 2024, Dr. Nseyo launched the Golden Hour.FM podcast, a project born from her own experiences navigating a flawed healthcare system. After more than a year of thoughtful development, the podcast became a platform for turning that struggle into purpose by creating a space where patients feel truly seen, heard, and supported. Through storytelling and conversation, Golden Hour.FM uplifts voices across the women’s health spectrum, from maternal health through menopause.

With a vision that blends science, empathy, and systemic change, Dr. Nseyo is committed to transforming care models to better serve women and families.
