He believes patient education is essential in managing chronic conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and works closely with patients to help them understand the available medical evidence and make informed decisions that align with their goals and preferences. His personal experience living with Crohn's disease reinforces the importance of accessible, empathetic care and a deep understanding of the impact inflammatory bowel disease can have on every aspect of a person's life, including work, school, family relationships, travel, and emotional well-being.

Dr. McConnell is married and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Outside of Medicine, he enjoys hiking, swimming, attending live music events, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
