Alan T. Kawaguchi, M.D.

Dr. Alan T. Kawaguchi, MD, believes that research studies derive their conclusions from data collected from many patients. Although the evidence from these studies gives us a framework on how to treat patients as a whole, they may not account for individual differences. He provides care using the principles from evidence-based medicine, while tailoring those principles to each individual patient based on his unique needs.

His professional interests include MAKO robotic assisted medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, MAKO robotic assisted primary total knee arthroplasty, MAKO robotic assisted primary total hip arthroplasty, outpatient joint replacement surgery, and knee arthroscopy including ACL reconstruction.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, AO Faculty, ABOS Board Examiner, California Orthopaedic Association, California Medical Association, San Joaquin Medical Society, and the Japanese American Medical Association.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys skiing and playing pickleball. He also enjoys watching basketball, baseball, and football games. His personal interests include listening to 1980s music, The Rolling Stones, and Queen, as well as exploring Japanese Buddhism and Japanese folk tales.
