About Me

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Pinon enjoys providing care for adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds and has a particular interest in working with individuals whose health has been disproportionately affected by systemic barriers in society. She views the physician–patient relationship as a collaborative partnership. Her role extends beyond diagnosing and treating illness to supporting, educating, and empowering patients to understand their health and make informed decisions. She believes strong physician–patient relationships are grounded in mutual respect, open communication, trust, and shared responsibility.

Her approach is rooted in whole-person care, recognizing the close connection between physical health, mental health, and daily habits. She is also mindful that health exists within broader social, cultural, environmental, and historical contexts that influence well-being. While medications and modern medical treatments can play an important role when conservative measures are insufficient, she uses them thoughtfully, guided by each patient’s individual needs and preferences. Her goal is to balance lifestyle-based approaches with medical therapies in a safe, evidence-based manner.

She believes that positively impacting individual well-being helps foster healthier families and communities, which in turn contributes to a healthier planet. She is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this work through her practice of family medicine.

Personal Interests

As a first-generation Mexican American, Dr. Pinon has found inspiration and a sense of well-being through exploring ways of living and being rooted in the Indigenous side of her ancestral heritage. She experiences joy and restoration through time spent with plants, including gardening, landscaping, and hiking. She is deeply influenced by the principles of ecological stewardship and social justice, and she values personal wellness and ongoing self-reflection. She believes that practicing self-compassion helps individuals become more grounded, present, and compassionate toward others.

She finds the human mind deeply fascinating and is curious about how it can be challenged to grow—breaking patterns of behavior and thought that lead to stagnation or affect emotional and spiritual health. She learned from her elders that an important way to support this growth is by testing thoughts and beliefs through lived experience, while incorporating humility and curiosity into the process. She has a strong interest in reading and engaging with the arts as pathways to learning about history, nature, traditional foodways, philosophy, and poetry. She has traveled extensively, including studying abroad in Turkey, and has lived in both rural and urban communities. These experiences have deepened her appreciation for cultural humility and for the many ways people understand themselves, their health, and their place in the world.
