Geoffrey W Krampitz, M.D., Ph.D., FACS

As a dual-trained MD-PhD surgical oncologist with extensive expertise in advanced robotic surgery, multidisciplinary cancer care, and programmatic development, I bring a unique combination of technical mastery, translational research insight, and visionary leadership.

Currently, I serve as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Sutter Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, where I lead a high-volume robotic surgical oncology program focused on pancreas, liver, gastrointestinal, and soft tissue malignancies. Over my career, I have performed more than 1,000 robotic cases and led institutional and enterprise-level robotic surgery advisory committees. I have consistently built and scaled multidisciplinary teams to deliver round-the-clock, high-value care for patients with complex cancers.

With formal fellowship training at MD Anderson in complex general surgical oncology, and previous academic appointments including Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University, I have remained deeply engaged in both clinical innovation and oncologic research. My work has been published in Science, PNAS, Annals of Surgery, and Surgery, and includes NIH- and foundation-funded investigations into pancreatic cancer dormancy and stem cell biology. I have also mentored numerous trainees and led HPB-focused tumor boards, video conferences, and resident education programs.

I am passionate about integrating minimally invasive technologies, translational science, and compassionate care to improve outcomes for patients facing cancer. I am committed to excellence in oncologic surgery, innovation, and collaboration that benefits patients.
