His clinical practice focuses on pancreatic cancer surgery, including the Whipple procedure (pancreaticoduodenectomy), liver tumors, bile duct cancers, and other complex gastrointestinal malignancies. He specializes in complex HPB surgery and multidisciplinary cancer care, with an emphasis on careful surgical planning and coordinated treatment strategies for patients with pancreatic and gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr. Krampitz serves as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Sutter Health Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame, California, and as Robotics Center of Excellence Program Director, helping lead the development of advanced robotic surgical programs across the health system.

Dr. Krampitz earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and completed his MD and PhD training at Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed general surgery residency at Stanford followed by fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he refined advanced techniques in pancreatic, liver, gastric, esophageal, and colorectal cancer surgery.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Krampitz has conducted research in tumor biology and surgical oncology, with peer-reviewed publications that inform his approach to complex cancer care. His academic background supports careful evaluation of tumor biology, surgical strategy, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.

When appropriate, he incorporates advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques to enhance visualization and precision during complex abdominal cancer operations while maintaining strict adherence to oncologic principles. Dr. Krampitz has been recognized as a Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).

Dr. Krampitz provides surgical oncology consultation for pancreatic cancer, Whipple procedure evaluation, liver tumors, bile duct cancer, and other complex hepatopancreatobiliary malignancies for patients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California.
