Dr. Hernan Bazan's philosophy is to combine the latest advancements in vascular and endovascular surgery with a profoundly personal, patient-centered approach. He feels strongly that every patient deserves a treatment plan tailored to their unique circumstances, grounded in evidence-based medicine, and delivered with compassion. His goal is to provide the highest level of academic surgical care to the Bay Area community, ensuring that our patients have access to the best advice for vascular disease and the most innovative and minimally invasive options available.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bazan enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, and playing tennis.

Dr. Hernan Bazan is a nationally recognized vascular surgeon and physician-scientist who joins Sutter Health as the Chief of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery for the Sutter West Bay Medical Group. He comes to the Bay Area from Ochsner Health in New Orleans, where he served as the prestigious John Ochsner Endowed Professor of Surgery and Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship. A leader in his field, Dr. Bazan was awarded the NIH Director’s Trailblazer Award for his groundbreaking research. He has been the recipient of multiple medical student and resident teaching awards. He is passionate about building a premier, destination vascular program at CPMC, offering the most advanced care for patients across Northern California.
