About Me

Philosophy of Care

I began my practice at Sunnyvale Medical Clinic in 1983 after completing my training at Stanford University Medical Center. My philosophy of care is to treat my patients like family members. I make a lifetime commitment to my patients.

When asked by my colleagues how I have maintained such a high patient satisfaction rating, I attribute my success to my patients' satisfaction with their surgical outcomes and to my commitment to their care. I foster an environment that puts my patients at ease, and I listen and address their concerns. I understand that patients have many questions about their surgery and I am committed to answering them. I have been told by my patients that I have made connections with them that engender trust.

My approach to patient care is comprehensive and specialized care. Today most surgeons are limited to practicing a specific subspecialty. I have received specialized fellowship training in multiple areas of orthopedic surgery. Therefore I have the ability to integrate this knowledge in order to perform the most skillful evaluations that facilitate achieving the best possible surgical outcomes.

A significant part of my practice is joint replacement surgery where I employ the latest modalities including computer assisted navigation. Whenever possible I perform the most minimally invasive surgical techniques. For example, I use the Anterior Approach for hip replacement surgery in order to minimize trauma to tissues, to facilitate a faster recovery time, and to minimize the risk of complications such as dislocations. Because of my vast experience performing joint replacement surgeries, I also perform complex revision surgeries of knees and hips.

When people contemplate surgery, they have questions, concerns, and fears. I spend whatever amount of time that is necessary to answer their questions and to educate them about the surgical procedure and the recovery process. I want my patients to feel confident about their decision to undergo surgery and to realize that they will receive excellent and compassionate care.

Lastly, I love the field of orthopedic surgery, and I believe that this also has had an important impact on my ability to help restore patients' function and improve the quality of their lives.
