Naveen Sultana Mahmood, M.D., MPH, FAAP

I have lived in the Bay Area since my early teens. I attended Mercy High School in Burlingame and graduated from Stanford University with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences (with honors and distinction). I received my medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and my Master of Science Degree in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley (U.C. Berkeley). I conducted my residency in pediatrics at UCSF.

It is incredibly satisfying to work in the community where I grew up, raised my own family, and am now helping raise my grandchildren in. I am very fortunate to be able to travel internationally every year to do volunteer medical work in underprivileged parts of the world. While these two practice scenarios differ greatly, there is the same deep satisfaction in taking care of people’s needs especially regarding their children, supporting them in decision making and being respectful of their choices.

Having been a parent before I was a pediatrician, reminds me that parents know their children best and their voice is important. To that end I consider myself in partnership with the parents and patients as we navigate some of the most important and formative years of life.

Dr. Mahmood enjoys traveling, physical fitness, and spending quality time with 4 generations of family members, including her 2 grandchildren.
