Approach to care

Dr. Timothy Davern’s approach to hepatology patient care is guided by several foundational principles. He views the liver as a unique and remarkable organ—not only for its many essential functions but also for its innate ability to repair, remodel, and recover from prior injury. As a hepatologist, he partners with patients to identify the cause of liver injury and develop individualized treatment plans that foster this natural healing capacity and promote long-term liver health. When liver damage is too advanced for recovery, he strongly recommends exploring liver transplantation as a potentially life-saving option. Dr. Davern also recognizes that all people are patients at some point in their lives and that facing serious medical challenges can be overwhelming. He considers it both a calling and a privilege to serve patients with humility, trust, compassion, and respect. He feels fortunate to work alongside a large multidisciplinary team—including hepatologists, transplant surgeons, nurse coordinators, medical and administrative assistants, nutritionists, pharmacists, radiologists, endoscopists, pathologists, and many others—whose tireless dedication consistently goes above and beyond to support the liver health of every patient.

Outside of medicine

Outside of Medicine, Dr. Timothy Davern enjoys spending time in the North Bay with his wife, Lori, their daughter, Salem, and the family dog, Bowie. Together, they appreciate the beauty of nature, listen to music, and share in his occasional hobby of writing fiction for the amusement of family and friends.
