Akanksha Sharma, M.D.

Dr. Akanksha Sharma is a neuro-oncologist and physician leader specializing in the care of patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors. She currently serves as Medical and Research Director of Neuro-Oncology at Sutter Health/California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
Dr. Sharma completed her neurology residency at the University of Washington, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowships in Neuro-Oncology at Mayo Clinic Arizona and Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of Washington.
Her clinical and research work focuses on improving quality of life and integrating palliative care into neuro-oncology. She has led and contributed to numerous clinical studies, including investigator-initiated research on brain tumors, caregiving burden, and innovative therapeutic approaches.
An active leader in the field, Dr. Sharma is involved with national and international organizations including the American Academy of Neurology, Society of Neuro-Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology, and serves in multiple advisory and leadership roles.
She is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and recognized for her contributions to neuro-oncology research, education, and patient-centered care.
