Getting a good night's sleep is vital to every aspect of life, yet according to the National Sleep Foundation, between 50 and 70 million Americans experience some sort of sleep or wakefulness disorder. With the right help, everyone should be able to enjoy restful nights and wide-awake days.

Sutter care centers have board-certified sleep medicine specialists throughout Northern California. Our seven Sleep Centers are equipped with the latest sleep-testing equipment to diagnose and treat the full range of sleep disorders, including insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea and narcolepsy.

Our specialists offer overnight sleep lab testing and in-home sleep testing using advanced diagnostic tools that fit your needs. These can include:

  • Maintenance of wakefulness testing
  • Multiple sleep latency testing
  • Nocturnal oximetry monitoring
  • Pediatric sleep testing

Once a diagnosis is complete, our sleep medicine specialists design a treatment plan exclusively tailored to your needs. Treatment may range from behavior changes and sleep counseling to medication or sleep-aid devices. Common treatments may include:

A neurological disorder is any disorder of the body's nervous system. This may happen due to structural, chemical or electrical problems occurring in the brain, spinal cord or other nerves, which can result in a range of symptoms. Examples of symptoms include paralysis, muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, pain and altered levels of consciousness. There are many recognized neurological disorders and much research is being done to find treatments.
