    Comprehensive Care for Recovery

Neurological rehabilitation can significantly improve recovery from a stroke, traumatic brain injury or other neurological conditions. In the Sutter Health network, a team of neurological rehabilitation specialists provides assistance to patients wherever they need it—in the hospital, at home or in outpatient rehabilitation centers.

    Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

Across Northern California, highly trained speech, physical and occupational therapists provide a wide range of care at our outpatient rehabilitation centers. Services can include:

    • Aquatic therapy
    • Activities of daily living retraining
    • Vision rehab
    • Cognitive retraining
    • Aphasia treatment
    • Orthotic and prosthetic training
    • Patient and family education and training
    • Return-to-work training
    • Voice retraining

    Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation

Our three inpatient rehabilitation facilities are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for stroke and other neurological conditions. Each rehabilitation center is staffed by highly trained rehabilitation therapists who specialize in different aspects of recovery, such as limb mobility and strength, motor skills and speech. The centers’ multidisciplinary teams work together to provide coordinated rehabilitation therapy that optimizes mobility and function.

    Home Health Services

Our Sutter Care at Home program brings medical care, rehabilitation therapy and support services to a patient’s home. We tailor care to the needs of individual patients and provide in-home services from healthcare professionals, who can include:

    • Registered nurses who monitor vital signs, provide instruction and education, coordinate treatment plans, check on medications and diet, and provide injections and other medical services.
    • Home health aides who assist with daily living activities.
    • Medical social workers who connect patients with community resources, assess eligibility for public assistance, assist in long-term care planning and provide counseling.
    • Speech therapists, physical therapists and occupational therapists who provide coordinated rehabilitation therapy.
