Message from Our Program Director
Dear Prospective Applicants,

Thank you for taking the time to explore our Psychiatry Residency Program. This is an exciting moment in your journey, and I want you to know that we see you—not just as an applicant, but as a future colleague preparing to care for patients, families, and communities.
Psychiatry is a calling rooted in humanity. Every day, we meet people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. We also see their strength, resilience, and capacity for change. Training future psychiatrists is a responsibility we take seriously. It is grounded in service, humility, and a commitment to meeting patients where they are.
In our program, you will find a community built on compassion, curiosity, clinical rigor, and connection. We believe strong psychiatric care is both thoughtful and practical. Residents develop solid skills in diagnosis, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and team‑based care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and community settings—reflecting the real‑world practice of psychiatry. Just as important, we foster an environment that values wellbeing, mutual support, and sustainable growth as a physician.
Our curriculum is designed to prepare you for everyday clinical practice. You will learn how to care for patients with complex needs, work within healthcare systems, and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams. Whether your interests include community psychiatry, addiction services, child and adolescent psychiatry, integrated care, or interventional and neuromodulation‑based treatments, we support your development through strong mentorship and providing opportunities for practical experience. We emphasize thoughtful clinical judgment, evidence‑informed decision‑making, and compassionate care.
Residency is a time of growth and transformation—shaping how you practice and who you become. My hope is that you find a program where you feel supported, encouraged, and thoughtfully challenged along the way. If our values and approach resonate with you, I hope you will consider joining our community.
Thank you again for your interest. We would be honored to learn more about you and your story.
Sincerely,
Joseph Sison, M.D.
