Approach to care

Dr. Elizabeth Portin's practice focuses on comprehensive, preventative pediatric care that supports each child’s physical, mental, and emotional well‑being. In every visit, she emphasizes healthy habits, early prevention, and practical guidance that helps children thrive now and into adulthood. When a child comes to her with an injury or illness, her approach goes beyond simply making a diagnosis. She takes the time to understand how the issue developed and works with families on strategies to prevent future problems. Whether the concern is related to activity, school, or everyday life, her goal is to help children recover fully and build resilience moving forward. Dr. Portin believes regular physical activity is essential for long‑term health and confidence, regardless of a child’s athletic background. She encourages children to find enjoyable, meaningful ways to stay active, recognizing the important role movement plays in both physical and mental health. When an injury, illness, or concussion disrupts a child’s routine, she is committed to helping them safely return to their normal activities so they can continue to grow, learn, and stay engaged in the things they love.

Professional highlights

Dr. Portin enjoys working with child and adolescent athletes to keep them healthy and active. This includes covering the sidelines at sporting events and educating parents, coaches and athletes on methods to prevent overuse injuries and burnout.

Outside of medicine

Outside of Medicine, Dr. Portin enjoys spending time with her husband, two young boys, and large Newfoundland dog. She grew up horseback riding and has recently started riding again, and now takes any opportunity to hop on a horse!
